Apr 12, · B&M Star shifter, and had to order another switch, as my current shifter only had the reverse light switch in. I saw the PO had spliced the purple wire together, bypassing the neutral safety, (confirmed by starting the car in gear).
On all of the B&M shifters made this way, at least the ones I’ve seen, the two switch terminals you use will come with connectors attached. If this isn’t the case, or you’ve removed them, you’ll want the ‘COM’ and the ‘N/O’ terminals. wire.
